It has been a few years again since I have updated my little slice of the internet here so I thought I might bring the world up to speed.

We moved from Baumholder, Germany in the spring of 2011. Luckily before we left my brother Brian and his wife Shosh were able to come visit us, travel a bit and hopefully experience Europe at long last. We went to Edinburgh, Scotland and Rome along with many German cities like Cologne and Trier. The Ferguson Clan moved to Augusta, Georgia (well, specifically Fort Gordon) so we were finally back in the States. I'll skip over most of it because we absolutely loathed it. The heat and humidity, still being far from family and friends, the racial tension, it just wasn't a pleasant three years.

Two major life happenings took place while we lived there though: My 28 year old brother Brian, for whom I have the utmost love for, committed suicide back home in Washington on the 23rd of November 2011 and mine and Stefanie's third child, Amelia Mae Ferguson, was born on the 1st of October 2012. Other than that I'd really like to forget about our stay in the American south.

Stefanie has gotten out of the US Army so we have since moved back to Washington state and are currently filling our time with college courses, kid raising and driving her parents crazy as we live with them now temporarily while we adjust back to civilian life.

It's good to be back; it's bad to be back. I miss Brian every day.

Getting started

3 min read
Took a little trip around the UK and Ireland and they were unquestionably the most beautiful place I've visited on Earth, especially Ireland.

From Germany we drove to Belgium to catch the first of four ferries we would use on our trip. When we landed it was off to London which we didn't spend too much time at since we've been there before. From there it was Conwy, Wales then North to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and ending in Edinburgh, Scotland where we spent a few days seeing the sights and generally being tourists. There was an art festival and we got to see many great pieces and local artists.

After Edinburgh we went briefly to Glasgow, Scotland then South to catch the next ferry to Belfast, Northern Ireland. After a short stint with a flat tire, a local auto garage and a helpful Scottish family we caught our ferry and spent the day in Belfast. We drove North to Bushmills to see the giant's causeway and to try a little Bushmill's Irish whiskey from the oldest whiskey distillery in the world.

From there we made our way to Dublin, oh Dublin. My wife has fallen in love with it and wants to finish school there. Great place and things to see, lots to experience. We were asked several times while in Scotland and Ireland where thing were and questions that only locals would know so it felt great to be in place like that after spending so many years in Germany. From Dublin, while I was sick, Stefanie drove to Galway. It's a lot like Glasgow in that it's the economic and industrial center more then Dublin and Edinburgh respectfully.

Kylemore Abbey, on the far Western edge of Ireland was a hell of a drive, beautiful, eye opening; I am unable to put into words the beauty that we saw. The Abbey itself was great, but the drove alone was worth it. After that it was South to Shannon and Limerick. More of the same old unspeakable beauty and culture. At times it was almost overwhelming.

We made our way back to Dublin to catch a ferry in order to return to Wales and after that it was a made dash back home to Germany after we landed in France after a terribly rocky boat ride. It was good to be home.

On the art front I've been letterboxing (LOOK IT UP!) since June and it was raised a renewed interest in carving and lithographs. I've got many ideas running around in my head and it feels great to be able to say that because let me tell you all, when you watch kids all day it's difficult to concentrate and even when talking with other adults it's hard not to speak to them like they are children.

Really nothing new to report other then I have a son now, so along with my daughter I am a very busy person these days so I have time for pretty much nothing. Going to the states in a few days for one brother's wedding and another brother's high school graduation. I'm already feeling like a stranger in my homeland and I have not even gotten there yet.

Time will tell if I will be able to pick up a camera again and God help us if I actually get to pick up a paint brush again. It's truly been too long. Lots of ideas though, swirling around up there.

A year already

1 min read
So it's been about a year since my last update and I don't really have time to add anything new so. Yeah. On the plus side I went to Oktoberfest this year with some friends while my wife and daughter stayed home. Had a great time, a little expensive but worth it in the end. For 2009 we are planning to actually go as a family. It's really more of an American State faire then a beerfest, there just happens to be lots of beer. Be good to each other.

Being a stay-at-home dad is not as easy as I though it would be. My daughter is starting to get a personality and it makes it all worth while. My wife is going to Oktoberfest this weekend so it will just be Natasha and I for a couple days.

I got a new camera, actually it's the same camera a Canon Digital Rebel. Except it's not black it's silver. So hopefully I will be putting up more photos soon. Maybe I'll go through some old one and put them up until then. Stay devious people...
